Answer: Wella
Wella is a hair care, colouring, and hairstyling company that produces cosmetics and hair products for use by barbers, hair stylists, and consumers. The company was founded in 1880 by Franz Stroher, a German hair stylist who travelled to Paris to learn about hair fashion. The company began manufacturing wigs and became a family business soon after. After wigs fell out of style, the Wella company developed a hair perming product that allowed women to apply permanent waves to their hair, a style which the company derives its name from (Wella is German for Wave). After becoming a smash success in salons around Europe, Wella created the first portable perming station, Wella Junior, and the first hair dryer with an onboard motor, both of which were used extensively in hair salons. After World War II and the subsequent German nationalization of the Wella business, the company rebuilt itself and began producing Koleston, one of the first coloring products for hair, sparking the craze for hair coloring, especially red hair. During the 70s and 80s, when wild hairstyles were particularly popular, Wella products allowed women to sport hair that was new and unconventional.
