They provide acquisitions and mergers. They do other boring stuff that typical multinational investment banking firms are in charge of, like private equity deals, market making, asset management, prime brokerage to big clients, underwriting services, merger and acquisitions advising. Goldman Sachs is the primary dealer for the United States Treasury security. They are the foremost investment banker in the world, but no one cares but the boring, lackluster, soul suckers of the world who are the top businessmen hoarding all the money. Some of the Goldman Sachs executives who have inevitably made the easy transition from CEO’s with all the money to government positions with all the power include, Henry Paulson, Robert Rubin, Mark Carney, Mario Draghi, and other people.
