Logos Quiz Level 4-8 Answers
Answer: Vodafone
Vodafone is one of the largest international telecommunication companies in the world, and was founded in Newbury, England in 1985. The company provides cellular phone service, data services, and internet to over 80 countries, especially in Europe. They are one of the largest companies in Europe and have hundreds of stores throughout England, France, and Germany. One of the most innovative products introduced by Vodafone is the Vodafone 150, which claims to be the cheapest cell phone in the world, at about $15 per handset. Despite their widespread success, Vodafone has come under criticism for its customer service and tax evasion, the latter of which was discovered in 2010. According to the investigation, the company had used offices in Switzerland to evade roughly 6 billion Euros in taxes. A settlement was reached, in which the company paid about 1.25 billion. News of Vodafone’s tax evasion and settlement spurred protests by UK citizens, who formed the protest group UK Uncut to protest austerity measures and tax evasion by UK companies, which supposedly contributes to a lack of funding for public programs.
