Logos Quiz Level 4-25 Answers
Answer: Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a wireless transmission protocol that allows devices to communicate with one another. Bluetooth technology was developed by the Ericsson telecommunications company in the late 1990s, and was named for King Harald Bluetooth, who united the warring tribes of Denmark under a single ruler and brought Christianity to his new subjects. The idea behind associating the Bluetooth name with this new protocol was that Bluetooth would unite a range of digital and electronic devices through a common communication system. Bluetooth is most commonly associated in the US with wireless Bluetooth headsets, which allow users to speak on their phones hands-free with an ear-mounted microphone and earphone. Despite common perception, Bluetooth is not a company in itself and does not belong to any particular company. Instead, it is an industry-wide communication protocol, like Wi-Fi, though it is no longer certified or overseen by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. The Bluetooth logo is a combination of the runes used for Harald Bluetooth’s name, HB.
