Bic
Bic is a disposable company based in Clichy, France. They make the cheapest ballpoint pens in all of history. They also make lighters and razors. They were founded in 1945 by Marcel Bich. They developed inexpensive disposable lighters which they called Cricket. These were introduced in 1972. Later on, in 1973, they created a lighter that could be used 3,000 times before running out. They also produced the Bic crystal ballpoint pen. This pen became famous somehow in pop culture for a reason that no one is sure of. This pen made its way into the Museum of Modern Art in New York for no reason at all. The Bich family owns only 40% of Bic stock since they merged with Waterman Pen Company in 1958. Bic moved from France to Connecticut in order to have more space for their growing manufacturing sites and headquarters. They later moved somewhere else, it doesn’t matter where. For no reason at all, Bic began to sponsor professional cycling teams. No one cared very much about this fact and all their teams lost in the Tour de France. Bic still produces disposable things today and most likely will keep manufacturing these timeless piece of disposable materials until the day the sun burns out.
