Staples
Staples is a humongous office supply chain store. They have over 2,000 chain stores across 26 countries. They are based in Massachusetts, though they have locations in Australia, Finland, Germany, France, China, Austria, India, Argentina, Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom. The idea for Staples originated in 1985 from two former rivals named Leo Kahn and Thomas G. Stemberg. These two were former rivals from some boring part of New England in the most monotonous retail supermarket industry you can imagine. They came together because they realized they had nothing better to do, and thus Staples was born. They chose the name Staples because they themselves felt like they had been stapled together by fate. Soon after opening their first store somewhere, they began buying up other office supply stores and expanding all across the country. As time went on, they continued to do this and today they are still around. They claim to have everything at their store. After all, their slogan is, “Yeah, we’ve got that.” They apparently keep changing their slogan, to no one’s concern. They sell things like staplers, staples, paper, and other things that people can staple to other things.
