About Alitalia
Alitalia is an Italian airline company, also known as Italy’s national airline. The company was founded in 1999 and its many hub is located at the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Italy. Alitalia also has two other hubs at the Linate Airport and Milan Malpensa Airport.
Other airports where Alitalia operates out of include, Tirana Airport, Turin Airport, Pisa, International Airport, Venice Marco Polo Airport and a few others. Alitalia is Italy’s largest airline and ranks as the 19th largest airline in the world. In 2013, they were faced with a few hardships, including bankruptcy. Etihad Airways, with is based in the United Arab Emirates, agreed on a 49% stake in the company.
Other major shareholders in the company include Intesa Sanpaolo, Poste italiane, UniCredit, and a few others. The reported revenue in 2012 was over $3,500 million Euros. The company currently names two slogans: ‘Alitalians do it better’ and ‘Where the journey meets the destination’, which is the international slogan.
