Answer: Pringles

About Pringles

Pringles is a popular brand of potato and wheat chips that bring in over $1 billion dollars worth of sales a year. Aside from their u-shape and non-greasy flavor, Pringles potato chips are famous for their cylinder canister in which they come stacked rather than stuffed everywhere in a typical bag. The Pringles logo is of a character known as “Julius Pringles”; who sports a bow-tie, mustache, and a parted haircut.

Pringles were invented in 1975 when a company known as P&G (Proctor & Gamble) attempted to create a form of potato chip that would not go stale, break, or become greasy. In 1975, the FDA ruled that Pringles could no longer use the word “chip” in their name as they were not made from dried potatoes. Because of this and the way they were actually cooked, Pringles began to called their product “crisps.”

In 2012, P&G sold the Pringles Brand to Kellogg for $2.695 billion dollars.

Pringles are known to come in a variety of flavors, many of which are the same as standard potato chips. For example, cheddar, ranch, BBQ, and salt & vinegar remain very popular staples. However, the brand has also spawned both the odd and original with flavors such as chili cheese dog, cajun, “pizzalicious”, cheese stick, and dill pickle.
