About Budweiser
Budweiser is a brand of beer produced by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Budweiser was first created by Adolphus Busch in 1876. Busch was married to a woman named Lilly Anheuser. Busch and his father-in-law, Eberhard Anheuser, formed the Anheuser-Buch company. Busch used European brewing techniques to refine beer for the U.S. market. At the time, most of the American market was for heavier, darker beers. Budweiser, a light beer, was revolutionary and welcomed. During the Prohibition, the company sold beer-like products to survive, including brewer’s yeast. With the repeal of Prohibition in 1933 and the invention of the metal can in 1936, Budweiser became a big seller again.
Today, Budweiser is sold in over 80 countries and is one of the best selling beers in America. Anheuser-Busch sells over 50% of beer in the U.S., mostly of their Budweiser brands. In the European Union, it is sold as Bud. This is because there is a Czech beer called Budweiser Budvar.
Budweiser commercials have become a cultural touchstone, especially the Clydesdale horse commercials. These commercials are usually premiered during the Superbowl and are typically rather heartwarming fare. Budweiser is also a sponsor of many sports teams and NASCAR drivers. The Budweiser brand includes Bud Light, Bud Ice, Bud Light Lime and more. They have also expanded into a flavored malt market with the Bud Light Lime-A-Ritas, which are malt beers flavored like various margaritas. The line includes other flavors like strawberry, mango, and raspberry.
