In 1829, a Mineral Water company was founded, which eventually became Evian. Evian water was sold in glasses bottles in the early 1900s, then in plastic bottles starting in 1969. In the 1930s, Evian was marketed as water safe enough for babies – which was a much bigger issue at the time.
Evian markets its water as an upscale brand and a sign that the consumer is wealthy. There is Evian facial water, which is said to soothe and soften skin. Celebrities often drink Evian and it is offered in upscale hotels. Evian also asks designers to create Limited Edition bottles for the brand.
