Answer: Dr Pepper
Dr Pepper, established in 1885 in Waco, Texas, is the oldest major soft drink in the United States. Originally sold as the “Waco,” Dr. Pepper was introduced to the world as a new carbonated drink brand at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, where it became a major hit. Dr. Pepper is a carbonated soda with a distinct flavoring that differentiates it from the two other major cola competitors, Coca-Cola and Pepsi. This distinct flavor became the basis for many of its slogans and marketing campaigns, which featured phrases like “The Most Original Soft Drink Ever” and “Hold out for out of the ordinary.” However, the “I’m a pepper” campaign was one of the most successful, featuring a catchy jingle that permeated radio, television, and print. Dr. Pepper also hired Donna Loren in the 50s and 60s to be the Dr. Pepper Girl, the official entertainment/advertising mascot for the company. The Dr. Pepper Girl became wildly popular and widely recognized in a short time. Dr. Pepper formally dropped the period from the prefix “Dr.” in the 1950s. The company was bought up by Cadbury Schweppes, then demerged into the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group.
