Logos Quiz Level 4-16 Answers
Answer: United Airlines
United Airlines is one of the largest airlines in the world, and operates in the United States, European Union, Japan, and dozens of other countries. United Airlines began as a relatively humble air-mail service until it was bought by William Boeing, who folded it into his his airplane manufacturing and carrier company, along with Pratt & Whitney. After being demerged into its own entity, United Airlines adopted the Boeing 247, which was one of the fastest passenger planes of the era. United Airlines would later be the first airline to employ the 757 and 767 planes, as well as the first to use advanced flight simulators to train its pilots. Throughout its history, United Airlines has had a contentious relationship with its pilots and airport staff, with unionizations, strikes, wage disputes, and other conflicts coming to a head in the late 90s and early 2000s. In 2001, the Al-Qaeda terrorist group hijacked two United Airlines flights and crashed them into the World Trade Center and a field in Pennsylvania, respectively. The latter plane is generally accepted to have been headed for the White House. Following a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, United Airlines refunded itself and merged with Continental.
