Logos Quiz Level 4-30 Answers
Answer: Texas Instruments
TI is an international designer and manufacturer of semiconductors and semiconductor products. It is most famous among students for the production of the TI range of calculators, including the Ti-83 and Ti-84. Texas Instruments was derived from a company known as Geophysical Service, also known as GSI. Geophysical Service Incorporated was focused on seismic detection equipment for use in finding oil, and was employed first by the US government to help detect underground nuclear tests conducted by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Later, GSI entered the defense industry with the production of electronics, including submarine detection equipment, laser-guided missiles, and a variety of missile technology. Eventually, GSI was merged with General Instruments and changed its name to Texas Instruments. Now focusing on semiconductor products, Texas Instruments began producing integrated circuits and transistors, pioneering the first transistor radio. TI started developing speech synthesis technology and artificial intelligence in the 80s, and tried to introduce a personal computer to compete with the IBM PC, but ultimately failed to secure a place in the market. Now, TI is considered one of the Most Admired Companies in the world by Forbes, and has been recognized by many industry organizations for employee welfare, innovation, and efficiency.
