Logos Quiz Level 4-33 Answers
Answer: Paramount
Paramount is one of the Big 6 film studios in the United States, and the last major film studio to be based in Hollywood, California. The studio oversees the production, filming, and distribution of major films, including Indiana Jones, the Godfather, Grease, and now the recent series of Marvel movies. Paramount Studios was also responsible for the animation studios that created both Popeye and Betty Boop, which competed with Walt Disney Studios’ Mickey Mouse for popularity, merchandise, and theater sales. Paramount was born out of a merger of the Famous Players studio, the Lasky Studio, and Paramount Theaters in the early 1900s. The driving force behind Paramount’s rise was Adolph Zukor, who led the company until the Great Depression, when the company was turned into a receivership following overexpansion and eventual bankruptcy. Zukor was kept on as the director of the company through the Depression, and eventually brought the company back to prominence by integrating more theaters under Paramount’s ownership. This, however, brought about an antitrust suit by the US Federal government, and forced Paramount to split into separate production and theater companies. Today, Paramount is owned by Viacom, one of the largest media companies in the world, and produces major blockbuster films featuring actors like Marlon Brando, Harrison Ford, and others.
