Answer: Galp
Galp was founded as the unified national petroleum and natural gas provider for Portugal. Before Galp, Portugal was supplied with oil and gas by four major overseas companies: SACOR, CIDLA, SONAP, and PETROSUL. Most of these companies were based in Angola and shipped the unrefined oil back to Portugal to be refined, but following the April 25th Revolution in Lisbon, Portugal, also called the Carnation Revolution, Portugal gave up most of its colonies and agreed to have its overseas oil operations nationalized. Following the loss of Angolan oil, GALP was created by merging with the PETROGAL company in 1999. Galp Energia made a major discovery of oil off the coast of Brazil in 2007, and now derives much of its oil from Brazilian wells. In 2010, GALP expanded to the Lula and Cernambi regions to recover oil and natural gas. Today, Gal Energia operates in 15 countries, employs over 6,885 people, and has more than 60 projects in Brazil, Angola, and Mozambique. The company also operates 1,453 service stations which produce a combined 7472 mm3 in sales, with its primary customers being Spain and Portugal. Oil and natural gas are used to fuel automobiles, industrial facilities, private homes, and other essential features in industrialized countries.
